Speaking to reporters, Iran’s U.N. Ambassador Ali Bahreini declared that Washington is already “complicit in what Israel is doing,” according to Reuters. His remarks came amid growing speculation over whether the U.S. coordinated with Israel ahead of the launch of “Operation Rising Lion,” which targeted key Iranian military and nuclear infrastructure.
Though the U.S. has so far refrained from launching direct strikes, American forces have actively assisted Israel in intercepting Iranian missiles. But now, all eyes are on whether Trump will authorize a more aggressive military role—particularly given that the U.S. is uniquely capable of destroying Iran’s heavily fortified Fordow nuclear site.
President Trump raised the stakes during a press conference on Wednesday, telling reporters that he had delivered Iran what he called “the ultimate ultimatum.” When asked to elaborate, Trump responded, “You could say so. The ultimate ultimatum.” He reiterated that Iran will “never be allowed” to obtain a nuclear weapon and dismissed the regime as “defenseless,” while declining to confirm whether a strike on Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s regime is imminent.
Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth remained tight-lipped under questioning by lawmakers during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing. When asked whether he had presented Trump with military strike options, Hegseth replied, “If I had or had not, I wouldn’t disclose that in this forum, Senator.” However, he emphasized that the Pentagon remains committed to ensuring the president is fully briefed on all potential actions and their consequences.
As war clouds gather over the Middle East, one thing is clear: the next move could change everything.
