16 and Pregnant Star Whitney Purvis Alleges Ex Blocked Her from Attending Their Son Weston’s Funeral

In a lengthy Facebook post published Wednesday, June 18, the 33-year-old reality TV alum accused Gosa Sr. of deliberately keeping her from attending the funeral held on Saturday, June 14. Purvis, who had announced the 16-year-old’s passing just weeks earlier on June 2, said she had stayed silent for years while being painted in a negative light by her ex — but not this time.

“I’ve let my son’s father and his wife bash me online and create their own version of reality for years,” she wrote. “But I’m going to stand up for myself this time.”

According to Purvis, Gosa Sr. told her the service was scheduled for 4:00 p.m., but when she arrived, she and her family were turned away at the door for not being on the guest list.

“It wouldn’t have mattered what time I showed up — I wasn’t getting in,” she alleged. “Then they tried to flip it and say I was two hours late and knew it was at 2:00 p.m. Like come on, I would never miss my son’s funeral on purpose.”

Purvis claimed Gosa Sr. intentionally excluded her and her loved ones, despite inviting over 100 other people. She also expressed outrage that while she was required to sign off on their son’s cremation, she had no say in who could attend the funeral.

“That’s some evil stuff to do to someone,” she wrote. “Why couldn’t we just come together and grieve for Weston?”

She added that their late son was unfairly caught in the middle of their conflict. “Little Weston didn’t deserve to be made to choose sides or feel that loving his mom was wrong. He deserved better parents — myself included.”

Gosa Sr. did not respond to People’s request for comment, but in a statement to TMZ, he alleged that the viewing was clearly communicated to all attendees as running from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and that the service followed. He claimed Purvis arrived around 4:15 p.m., after the chapel doors had been locked, and that he had even shown her proof that she was on the guest list.

However, in her post, Purvis refuted that narrative and claimed Gosa Sr.’s actions after their son’s death were controlling and cruel. She said he offered to give her an urn containing some of their son’s ashes — a gesture she initially appreciated — but ultimately never followed through.

“I begged him just to let me see Weston after they turned me away at the funeral, and he said it wasn’t his problem,” she wrote.

Purvis also reflected on their rocky co-parenting history, alleging that Gosa Sr. had withheld access to both of their sons over the years. She said she lacked the financial resources to take legal action, balancing rent, bills, and child support.

The couple, who first appeared on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant in 2009, welcomed Weston Jr. on April 2 of that year. They later had a second son, River, in 2014 after briefly rekindling their relationship, but eventually split again. Since then, Purvis has lost custody of both boys and was arrested in 2024 over missed child support payments.

“I love my kids more than anything,” she wrote. “I hated my life without my boys. But I thought they’d have a better life with Weston, since he comes from money. I didn’t want them growing up how I did… I thought I was doing the right thing. I never could’ve imagined he’d turn around and treat me this way.”

Purvis ended her post by expressing the depth of her grief and dismay: “I’m not perfect — who is? But I didn’t deserve this. Neither did my kids.”
