Woman Drives Wrong Way Towards CIA and Ends Up Wounded! What Really Happened?

A woman who was driving in the wrong lane towards the entrance of CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, was shot by law enforcement and subsequently detained, according to an affidavit filed in the Eastern District of Virginia. The affidavit also alleges that the woman had an “odor of alcohol” surrounding her.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:40 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, when Monia Spadaro was driving her gray Toyota Corolla on the outbound lane of traffic onto CIA headquarters property. A CIA police officer in a marked vehicle responded by flashing lights and activating sirens.

Spadaro continued driving towards the main security gate, allegedly executing “several reckless maneuvers” by driving on the wrong side of the road and swerving between lanes. Another officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but it reportedly sped up. As the car reached the gate, the officer discharged shots at the vehicle, hitting Spadaro.

The car then collided with one of the gate’s barriers. Police detained the suspect, and her identity was confirmed through her name and vehicle registration. Spadaro was transported to Inova Fairfax Medical hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.

According to the court document, Spadaro told hospital personnel that she had been drinking at Patsy’s, a bar located in Vienna, Virginia, approximately 15 minutes away from CIA headquarters. A CIA officer who accompanied Spadaro in the ambulance reportedly noted that her eyes were “glossy and bloodshot” and that “she had an odor of alcohol coming from her person.”

The FBI task force officer who authored the affidavit also noted that this was not Spadaro’s first alleged offense, as she had a prior conviction for DUI in Virginia in 2021.

The affidavit concludes that “there is probable cause” to believe that Spadaro operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and also drove her vehicle in a willful and wanton disregard of a signal from a law enforcement officer, thereby interfering with or endangering the operation of the law enforcement vehicle and endangering a person.
