A Louisiana woman is facing felony property damage charges after allegedly using sugar and chocolate syrup, along with physical damage, to vandalize a vehicle in what authorities believe was a dispute over a “shared romantic partner.”
The Shreveport Police Department humorously detailed the incident on their Facebook page, stating, “MelRidney Robinson just turned a car into a dessert buffet and demolition site all in one go,” and adding, “SUGAR, SYRUP, AND SLASHING — OH MY!”
According to police, the incident occurred on May 15 in the 1600 block of Corporate Drive in Shreveport. Robinson allegedly pulled up in her own vehicle next to the victim’s car and proceeded to damage it extensively before driving away. The entire act was reportedly captured on camera.
The charges against Robinson stem from allegations that she slashed all four tires of the vehicle, broke both side mirrors, shattered the windshield, poured chocolate syrup “everywhere” inside and outside the car, and dumped sugar into the gas tank.
Police arrested Robinson at a later time. If convicted, she could face prison time and a fine of $1,000 or more, depending on the value of the car and the extent of the damages. Additionally, Louisiana state law indicates that Robinson “may be ordered to make full restitution to the owner of the property.”
While police alluded to a “shared romantic partner” in their social media post, it remains unclear whether this individual was the owner of the vandalized vehicle or another party involved in the alleged dispute.
The Shreveport Police Department concluded their Facebook post with a cautionary note: “Let’s be real: no man is worth prison time and a criminal record.”
