Woman Beats Child on Airplane Because He Called Her “Fat”!

A 46-year-old woman was arrested at a Florida airport on Memorial Day, accused of physically assaulting a child who reportedly called her “fat” and made repeated comments about her size. Kristy L. Crampton was taken into custody on Monday and faces one count of cruelty toward a child by abuse without great bodily harm, according to official records.

The incident reportedly occurred on a flight departing from Orlando-Sanford International Airport en route to Maryland. Prior to takeoff, Crampton and several other passengers were voluntarily removed from the aircraft following a disturbance, prompting the involvement of law enforcement.

Officers from the Sanford Airport Police Department responded and interviewed Crampton outside the gate. According to a probable cause affidavit, Crampton stated that the child had been “very rude and disrespectful” during a trip to Disney, and this behavior continued on the plane. She alleged that an argument ensued, during which the child “began calling her ‘fat’ and ‘Miss Piggy.'” Crampton admitted to taking the child’s phone away, which she claimed angered him. She further stated that the child pushed her arm off the armrest twice before she responded by striking him.

The child provided a statement to police, reporting that he became upset after his phone was taken. He admitted to calling Crampton “fat” and stated that he pushed her arm off the armrest because he felt she was occupying too much space. The affidavit notes that the child alleged Crampton then struck him in the face.

Two additional witnesses who were passengers on the flight also gave statements to the police. One witness reported seeing Crampton “hitting [the child] with her fist and then a water bottle.” This witness also stated that the child claimed Crampton “slammed” his head into the airplane window. In their written statement, this witness indicated that the child did nothing wrong, did not hit Crampton, and only used his arms to protect his face. The witness further wrote that the “woman was not correcting the child, she was abusing him, whipping the s— out of the kid.'”

The second witness corroborated that the child called Crampton “fat” and repeatedly stated that she “could not fit in her seat,” allegedly continuing these remarks for approximately two minutes until Crampton responded by saying she hated him. This witness further reported seeing Crampton hit the child on the head with a water bottle and then slam his head into the window.

Based on the gathered statements, the police concluded that Crampton’s actions “went beyond typical disciplinary actions” and included “multiple strikes to the head as well as pushing [the child’s] head into the window.”

Crampton appeared in court on Tuesday and was granted a $10,000 bond. Upon posting bond, she is prohibited from having any contact with the child. Authorities did not disclose the relationship between Crampton and the child involved in the incident.
